Ethan's Birth Story Part 2

My mama :)

If you missed Part 1 click here ....

Those 20 minutes felt forever for me, but the Anesthesiologist finally came in. Getting an epidural
was quite something else. I was holding Matt's hand while the anesthesiologist was doing his thing,he was very nice and I liked that he would tell me each step that he was doing and what it was going to feel like. Anyway, it took  about 10 minutes and the epidural finally kicked in, I was no longer feeling contractions which was super nice! I was able to relax although I was pretty shaky because of the epidural.I was not totally numb. I was still able to move my legs just a little and my feet. The nurse also broke my water, which I felt nothing. haha I guess that's whats nice about an epidural?

I remember as I was sitting there, all I could think about is how nervous and excited I was to meet this baby, My baby was being monitored and I can hear his heart beat. I loved that sound. I could not believe I was actually in the hospital in labor! Matt was always by my side, making sure I was feeling good and also he was feeding my ice chips ha.

Midnight came around and we heard a knock on the door and it was my mom and sister and her husband! I was so happy my mother made it.  They sat down and talked to me for a while. They were all excited to finally meet there nephew/grandson.  My sister and brother-on-law left an hour later. Once they left I tried to sleep but I couldn't... 1:30 AM came around and my nurse came in to check on me.She checked my cervix and she said "oh! you're a ten!" " I am?!" I asked her. She got up and said she was going to call the doctor because it was baby time! Holy Moly I could not believe how fast I went from a 5 to a 10. As we were waiting I told Matt I felt something in between my legs, he quickly went out the door to let the nurse know. The nurse came in and she mentioned how we will start practice pushing, which by the way I am not sure why they call it "practice pushing" when I was actually pushing. I pushed for about 5 minutes and the doctor came in, Here we go I thought! Here's the real deal,  I am about to meet the little love of my life. The nurse was holding my left leg and Matt was holding my right, my mom was behind Matt just watching, but in some point she came behind me and walked me through pushing.

After every push I would ask Matt if he can see him, at the beginning he was not sure, he was not sure what to look for lol! after a couple more pushes him and my mom said they can see him and how he has black hair!  I looked at the clock and it was 2:05 AM, I'm not even kidding but in my head I thought, " at 2:10 AM he will be here" And a total of 10 minutes pushing and it was 2:10 AM I quickly see his head and then the rest of his little body come out, the doctor quickly put him on my chest, he was so tiny and purpleish I kept looking at him and once he let out his first cry, I started crying!! I was seriously in happy tears. As they were cleaning him I looked up at Matt and told him " Look what we made!" Matt teared up a little. We both kept looking at him,we did skin to skin I was still crying, and man is this little guy strong! he kept his head up and looked like he was looking around, Probably wondering where the heck he is! We had a full hour of skin to skin. I was so tired I just closed my eyes and held baby Ethan and tried to calm him since he kept crying a little. His little body was warmed against mine. I was so happy he was finally here, It is amazing how a women's body carries a baby for 9 months and then to actually meet the baby that has been in your tummy is out of this world!

After an hour the nurse weight him and did a few other tests on him. Then Matt was finally able to hold him.  I love watching these two. I love watching Matt talk to him, he is such an amazing dad already!
